Wordy 1.2

Word 2.3 Mb Freeware

Wordy is a game for anyone over the age of 10, although it may be suitable for younger children as well. It is a game for one to four players.

GAME TYPES

Anagrams

A word will be selected by the computer, which will then mix up the letters and display them in a random order. The player then has 60 seconds to re-arrange them into the correct order. Your score starts off at 1000 points and will decrease with time.

Letters are moved by swapping with either another letter or a blank space. First click on the letter to move, then click on where you want it to go. The letters will then be swapped. You can move letters anywhere on the playing grid, but the word will only be accepted if it uses all the letters in the anagram.

When you think you have arranged the letters correctly, click on the "Finished/Check Word(s)" button. If the word is found in the computer dictionary, you will be awarded the score indicated. If the word is incorrect you can carry on guessing until your time runs out.

Crossword

A random list of letters will be displayed in the top row of the word grid. The player has two minutes to arrange the words in the grid to make up as many words as possible.

Letters are moved by swapping with either another letter or a blank space. First click on the letter to move, then click on where you want it to go. The letters will then be swapped. You can move letters anywhere on the playing grid. 50 points are awarded for each complete word made. Words inside a word are not allowed. For example, "some". This contains the words : so, some and me. You will only score 50 points, as the computer will only count one word.

Mix 'N Match

This game is similar to the Crossword game, except that the whole letter grid is filled with a random selection of letters. The object of the game is to arrange the letters in the grid to make as many words as possible in three minutes. Letters are moved in the same way as the Anagram and Crossword game, except that each time a letter is moved or clicked on twice, it will turn white. This makes the words more visible, and also lets the computer know what words you have made up. 50 points are awarded for each letter in each word. Words inside a word are allowed in this game, so if you make the word "same", you will score 50 points for each letter in the following words: so, some and me. This will be a total of 400 points.

Pick 'N Mix

The object of this game is to make up as many words on the word grid as possible in three minutes. When your turn starts, a single letter will be displayed in the top left cell of the word grid. You can move this letter anywhere on the word grid by clicking on it once and then clicking on its destination. A new letter will then appear in its place. You can continue doing this until the time runs out. The letter can be changed by clicking on the "Change letter" button. Once a letter has been moved, it can't be moved again. 50 points are awarded for each letter in each word. Words inside a word are allowed in this game.
