R-theta

R-THETA is a fast-paced, original arcade game, made in the style of the Atari console games of the 1970's. The basis of the game is a abstract: you control a shooter that can move up and down on a constantly rotating radar-scope line. You must shoot all enemies that appear on the radar-scope before the rotating line hits them. As you shoot more enemies, the line rotates faster.
If you gain enough points, you will get an extra life.

The challenging aspect of R-THETA is its polar layout. Mostgames are arranged in a rectangular grid, and each point is described with an x-coordinate and y-coordinate. However, R-THETA is based in polar coordinates. This means that each point is described with a directional value (an angle measure, or theta)marking its angle from the horizontal "axis," and a radius value, marking its distance from the centre. In R-THETA, your theta
is constantly increasing, while you control your radius value. Also, when you fire a shot, it moves not in a straight line, but a curved path circling the centre.

There is intentional ambiguity in the game title. The "R" can either represent "radius" or "radar," and the "THETA" can either represent the theta value of the polar coordinates or the game design company, THETA GAMES.
